FAQ

How do I get there?

Fez has an international airport with direct flights from Europe. The city is in the center of the country and easily accessed by road and train. See our tips for getting here. We are happy to offer advice as you organize your trip.

Should I hire a guide?

We recommend taking an official guide for at least the first half-day or even your first full day. We made a selection of good, passionate guides who are not going to take you from one shop to another but who will open some hidden doors for you and try to give you a better understanding of the magic of Fez. Having said that, your feedback is necessary to make sure we go in the right direction.

Renting a car in Morocco?

Renting a car may be a good option but is by no means necessary. Major rental companies have offices in major cities and airports along with many reliable independent companies at reasonable prices. Many cars are manual transmission, so be sure to ask for automatic if you prefer.

What is the weather like?

Fez has moderate continental weather. Most of the year the sun shines brightly and the evenings are pleasant. Expect to enjoy breakfast on the terrace 10 months of the year. The hottest months are July and August reaching into the 90s. January and February tend to bring the most rain. Dress warmly in the winter, since evening temperatures can dip into the 40s.

Can I drink the water?

The water in the hotel is safe to drink. For your convenience and peace of mind, we provide bottled water in the rooms and make our ice cubes from bottled water.

Do we need medical shots or vaccinations?

No shots are necessary to visit Morocco. Nevertheless, we suggest that you ensure that all your shots are up to date and that you check with your medical advisor before you travel.

What medical facilities are there?

An emergency first aid and local doctors are available on call. We advise all guests to travel with a comprehensive insurance policy.

Can you help me plan my honeymoon, family reunion or special birthday or anniversary?

It will be our pleasure to help you plan your special event. Please contact us at contact@riad-laaroussa.com.

Is this a good place for families with children?

Morocco has a very child-friendly culture. We enjoy welcoming children at Riad Laaroussa. We have rooms that sleep four, plus we can provide cribs and cots for babies and smaller children, and can arrange babysitters.

What is a riad?

A riad is a traditional house or palace with an interior courtyard, typically with a garden. The living quarters surround the four sides of the courtyard creating a peaceful retreat from the bustling streets. You will often find citrus fruit trees and jasmine in the garden to provide shade, sweet scents and fruit for the home. Fountains are a central feature soothing the spirit with the sound of running water and creating natural air-conditioning during the heat of summer.
